The PALS course aims to improve the quality of care provided to seriously ill or injured children. It covers the systematic approach to pediatric assessment, basic life support, PALS treatment algorithms, and effective resuscitation team dynamics.
Learning Objectives
- Perform a systematic pediatric assessment (General, Primary, Secondary).
- Recognize and manage respiratory distress and failure.
- Recognize and manage shock (hypovolemic, distributive, cardiogenic).
- Recognize and manage respiratory distress and failure.
- Demonstrate intraosseous (IO) access and fluid bolus administration.
Prerequisites
- Current BLS certification.
- Knowledge of pediatric pharmacology and ECG rhythms.
